Description

Discover the EGG NOT from RUSTY - a quad single fin surfboard.

Simply put, the Egg Not by RUSTY is a squash tail version of our mid-length board, the eGG. With the increasing popularity of mid-length boards, we decided that it was more or less a given that we would offer a squash tail mid-length board as a quad single fin. The squash tail offers a little more surface area, extends the rail line and has a more manoeuvrable feel than a roundtail. The Egg Not is a great board to have in your quiver. When the surf is average, you can catch the wave well and carry yourself through the sections, but the board is still loose enough to turn with ease. And when the surf gets a little bigger, it still works amazingly well! The Egg Not has a moderate rocker at the front end of the board which aids paddling speed, catching waves and overall planing. The curve is slightly above average, which helps to tighten the arc of your turns without sacrificing speed. The thickness of the board is a little too thin for a board of this size. The thinner rails make it easier to push the board into the water and also help it to hold up better in bigger surf. The fin setup is up to you. For a better riding experience, we recommend a 4-fin quad setup. If you're looking for a more cruisy or traditional feel, go for a 2 plus 1 setup.

ACT SURFBOARD TECHNOLOGY

Rusty's ACT construction typically offers strength, lightweight and value for money - three crucial factors that are often seen as a compromise. The Rusty ACT shortboard features three layers of fibre on the deck and a 6oz rail tape in the tail. On the bottom is a 6oz + 4oz lay-up, complemented by UD carbon strips on the top and bottom. Interestingly, despite this structure, the weight remains comparable to a lightly glazed PU board.

However, the standout feature is the impressive responsiveness of these boards. The feeling when surfing with these boards is unique as they are extremely responsive. The unrestricted flex and low weight ensure that all the energy you transfer through your foot movements is directly translated into the turn without the "dampening" effect of the resin.

TEC - TORQ EPOXY COMPOSITE SURFBOARD TECHNOLOGY

Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in our modern epoxy lamination. These boards offer the best balance between lightness and durability. Our unique lamination process allows us to use a very strong 6oz and 4oz fibreglass layup in a 3-ply topsheet and 2-ply base (with a 4-ply rail overlap) with a high density EPS foam and still achieve a board weight comparable to a lighter fibreglass layup.

The result is a light but very stable board with good flexing characteristics and, as with all Torq boards, excellent value for money.

The TEC shortboards have 2 full layers of fibreglass over the deck and bottom. On the deck we also use a 6oz deck patch which provides a triple layer of protection against dents but does not affect the flex along the rail. The addition of a carbon filament stringer and UD carbon twin layers on the base makes these boards extra bouncy and responsive.
